Professor Burns honored with Distinguished Leadership Award by the Society for Human Ecology
At the 20th International Conference of the Society for Human Ecology, held at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, in 2014, Professor Thomas Burns was honored with the Society’s Award for Distinguished Leadership. In her speech bestowing the award, Dr. Linda Kalof of Michigan State University noted a number of contributions Dr. Burns has made over the years in his various roles in the Society. These include his central role in establishing an international book award and chairing or co-chairing the committee for that award since its inception. He is long-standing Book Review Editor of the society’s flagship journal, Human Ecology Review, and a number of his research papers have appeared there as well. Professor Burns is also a past member of the Society for Human Ecology’s Executive Board.
